The Mission of the Infant Feeding Action Coalition USA, Inc. (INFACT USA) is to protect, promote and support breastfeeding in the United States by providing information and education on the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes* and the Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding, Action 6.
*The International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes includes all subsequent relevant World Health Assembly Resolutions.
Current Research Opportunity
Have you ever heard of the World Health Organization’s International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes? “The Code” was adopted in 1981 and aims to stop the aggressive and predatory marketing of breastmilk substitutes.
Despite this Code being adopted, most countries across the globe are up against the $55 billion-dollar marketing industry of formula and bottle and teat companies. While most people are aware that this is an issue, we need active code monitoring to demonstrate the continuous violations against The Code and to hold the multi-billion-dollar industry accountable.
The Infant Feeding Action Coalition USA, Inc. (INFACT USA) is launching a research study in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States with colleagues who support, protect, and promote breastfeeding/chestfeeding. Involvement in this research study will involve downloading the Goose Chase Adventures application on your mobile device and participating in the missions outlined within the app! As you go about your day-to-day lives and routines, we ask that you keep a special eye out for the items outlined in each mission. As you come across those items, all you will need to do is take out your mobile device, snap a photo, and upload it to the app under that specific mission! Your submissions will help to monitor Code adherence in several countries.

The Cost of Not Breastfeeding
The Cost of Not Breastfeeding Tool, created by Nutrition International, aims to provide policymakers and advocates with a user-friendly tool to generate estimates of the potential health, human capital and economic benefits of scaling up breastfeeding promotion and support strategies. Evidence generated from the tool will be integral to raising awareness with government, industry and donors for scaling breastfeeding in accordance with the Global Breastfeeding Collective’s seven recommended policy actions.
